Info
8 Hours Overtime In A Good Cause is an international event in which young creatives (as in the young at heart and creative, flexible thinkers) donate time and energy to help out charities or NGO’s by solving a problem or meeting a challenge within the communication field. In eight hours time teams in cities around the world consisting of five members and an experienced mentor work for a single cause. All you need is a fitting location, food, drinks and an internet connection so creatives can put their talents to their best use!
Feel inspired? Donate your creativity, gain experience and expand your network! Organize 8 hours overtime in a good cause in your city for the next edition on the 22th of march 2013.
What do you need:
* An inspiring location ( an empty church or under the shadow of a tree?).
* Great food (home-cooked or take out?).
* Global or local charities with a challenge you can meet
* Young creatives ( co-workers, friends and family or the cool designer you always wanted to work with).
* A solid internet connection, power and such.
* Enthusiastic textwriters, photographers or videographers who can document the evening and share it with the world.

To give you an idea about the result, here are some results from earlier editions.

In Groningen in 2007 a tiny charity called Rahan Yam-Tel joined. They didn’t have any visual identity nor written communication about their goals etc. The team of 6 creatives took the challenge and designed a logo, website, stationary and wrote all text in two languages for their site and fundraising letter. The result still stands after four years.

A couple of years earlier Bartiméus set a challenge, they had rented airtime for a radiocommercial for the saturday after 8uo. And a team led by Renger Koning met that challenge and produced a professional commercial that was used for the campain. Check out the Bartimeus Commercial.
organisations that have been helped in the past are: the Dutch chapter of Médecins Sans Frontières, Greenpeace (the team helped out with a campain that was still in development back then about e-waste) and local subsidiaries of the International Red Cross for example in Apeldoorn in 2011. A more complete list can be found on the Dutch website.
